I got completely lost around Holcot, there were lots of paths, none of them marked and had to walk 6.5 miles go find my car (hours later) where did I go wrong?

Is the route length given on this page actually accurate? If you switch the google map to satellite mode the red routed doesnt follow the actual path around the lake!

Leaving from the causeway carpark going anticlockwise, the halfway point is just past the dam.

Hi I am new to running so thought I would give this a go. Started at the Pitsford end taking an anti clockwise route over the dam. I think I started too quickly and found myself having to walk/run by the time I go to the Holcott end. There are no toilets at this side of the circuit so I had additional incentive to get back to the start. I found myself walking most of the second half (although this seemed slightly quicker than the first side) and made it round in 1 hr 15 mins. Mix of runners walkers and cyclist on route all seemed very friendly. I will be making this a regular running circuit at weekends.

Any idea's where the half way marks are from the car parks?
